Almost at the end of Agustín Moreno Street, the main street in the neighbourhood of Santiago, on the right, there is a small alley called Tinte Street, where the next point of interest is located in our itinerary.
The house is very traditional, very old, “it is from 1680“, tells us Ana Muñoz, the kind owner of the house, a house that has been inherited from generation to generation. A clear example of this is that it is the current “Spanish dance School of Maribel Montero“, her niece.
We enter the house through a small entrance which, in turn, takes us to a forged iron gate, with the shape of a round arch, similar to the ones we have seen before, which leads us to the courtyard itself.
The floor of the Courtyard on 9, Tinte Street is made of clay tiles. A traditionally Arab well located in one of the corners seems to be hiding from the visitor, its parapet is whitewashed like the walls, and, as it could not be otherwise, it is surrounded by abundant and leafy vegetation. The washing sink has been recently restored, as it had been used for a long time to wash the flower pots and other tools used for the daily chores of the courtyard. Next to it, it is surprising to see a series of “thimbles” hanging on the wall which work as minute pots, which are worth seeing.
The house can be accessed through a round arch completely covered by climbing plants that give it a special feeling, and inside we can see a small corridor that leads to the rooms, with typical old wooden doors and a nice stairway, very narrow and steep, made of wood and brick. Half of the courtyard is covered on its first floor by a balcony, completely full of blue flower pots, unbelievably placed in a symmetric way, almost perfect, from which plants of different colours and scents hang, thus creating the characteristic charm of the traditional courtyards in Córdoba.
The flower pots, which cover almost completely the white walls of the house, are small blue pots with the most typical plants, which provide the place with such beauty, such as the geraniums, carnations, roses, hydrangeas, busy Lizzies, begonias, madonna lilies, daisies, petunias and spider plants, among others. We can highlight a beautiful centenary fruit tree, half lemon tree, half orange tree, located at the entrance of the house.
