6, Marroquíes Street.
We start the third itinerary with one of the most famous and special courtyards in the contest: the Courtyard on 6, Marroquíes Street.
And I say special as it is not only a courtyard but also a whole gardened street with more than twenty houses and several craft workshops: pottery, restoration of old furniture, making of musical instruments… and even a tailor shop, whose door has a notice saying: "How beautiful the Courtyard on Marroquíes Street is, with its geraniums and those pretty stocks. 6, Marroquíes Street, where you will find the king of tailoring. Tailor, Juan Pérez Latorre, come to this tailor and save money". Besides, on number 14 there is the Neighbours’ Association of the area of Santa Marina.

Approximately in the middle of the courtyard we can see a lintel full of flowers, it is a marvellous and huge bougainvillae. It provides the courtyard with a special beauty, as well as the climbing roses and the cactuses, but the sight of such a bougainvillae...
In the Courtyard on Marroquíes Street the pots are not painted in blue, unlike the frames of doors and windows; for its neighbours that would be like removing importance from the plant... There is more than one way to skin a cat! We can see different kinds of flower species: thin asparagus plants, dahlias, pinks, "the mother-in-law and the daughter-in-law" (colouful madonna lilies that grow in pairs not facing each other), crowns of thorns, yellow jasmines, geraniums, busy Lizzies...
The Courtyard on Marroquíes Street is certainly the most awarded courtyard in the 21st century, more specifically in the category of old architecture. It has received the first prize in 2000, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014. “We invest the prizes in making gradual improvements in the house”, tells one of the owners.
