We should mention the furniture in the room: four big bronze candelabra, four hymn books, lecterns, torch stands, lanterns… In the centre of the Gallery of the Tiles there is an exceptional Spanish popular table from the 17th century, with a one-piece board and richly decorated legs, where we can highlight five large books whose main topic refers to Gregorian chant.
This whole is finished by one of the most interesting pictorial works in Viana Palace: an oil on canvas representing “Saint Diego“, attributed to the painter Francisco de Zurbarán from Extremadura, although some think it could have been a work produced in a workshop rather than made by the brush of the master from Fuente de Cantos, something which was usually done by him, by the way.
We finish our tour talking about two seating pieces of furniture. The first one is an armchair from the end of the 17th century, decorated in black velvet and with curve arms, of which we can highlight the use of geommetrical elements in its decoration. The second one is a high quality piece: a Louis XIII-style armchair made in blue velvet in France. Its legs consist of four toned posts in the shape of a balustrade, where the front ones extend towards the arms working as their supporting points.
