For reasons of space, we have decided to put two small halls in just one category: Brueguel Hall and Duque de Rivas Hall, to which we can add the corridor-hall.
We leave again the Gallery of Goya’s Hall, entering the mentioned corridor-hall where we can see important works such as an oil on board by the painter from Madrid Eugenio de Lucas representing “Mary Magdalene“, “The Arrest of Jesus“, by the famous painter from Córdoba Antonio del Castillo or an exceptional “Ecce Homo” by Luis de Morales, nicknamed “The Divine“, who was even court painter of King Felipe II.
On the left there is a door leading to Brueghel Hall, with works belonging to the school of this exceptional Flemish painter. There are up to six oils on copper representing “Animals on their way to the ark“, “Allegory of the war“, and a series of four pictures called “Allegory of the senses“, where touch is missing. They are all characterized by its warm colours, typical of the Flemish school, as well as the taste for the details. An Italian ivory counter, stool and carpet complete the furniture. It is important to add that the window in this room has one of the most beautiful views of the gardens in the palace.
Brueguel Hall can be used as a corridor until the so-called Duque de Rivas Hall. On its walls, we can see up to ten canvases, three of them by Ángel de Saavedra himself, Duque de Rivas (Duke of Rivas), such as a “Self-portrait“, signed in Gibraltar in 1824, “Still life” signed in Orleáns in 1830, or “Penitent Magdalene” signed in Naples in 1846. Next to them, we can also mention “Cell of Felipe II in Escorial” and “Duque de Rivas’s Office in Naples“, by Conde del Donadío and Giuseppe Russo, respectively. In this small hall we can highlight a beautiful glass ceiling lamp from La Granja de San Ildefonso.
