There are two options for the guided tour: a) hire a bus, which travels daily to the site, or b) go directly to the site in your vehicle (free parking).

How to get to Medina Azahara?
If you have decided to take the Guided Visit to Medina Azahara without bus, meaning that you will go by your own means, you should know how to reach the archaeological complex.
If you are in the city, we recommend taking Avenida de Medina Azahara as your reference point. Once there, you can’t get lost: just continue straight until you find a sign directing you to the right. You will reach a narrow road without a shoulder that will lead you to the parking area of the archaeological complex.
If you are coming from another city or staying outside Córdoba, you should take Carretera de Palma del Río as your reference, which is the continuation of the aforementioned Avenida de Medina Azahara.
What to see on the Medina Azahara Visit?
On the Medina Azahara Visit, you will find a unique archaeological site: the magnificent newly built city that Abd al-Rahman III ordered to be constructed to govern the destiny of the newly created Umayyad Caliphate of Al-Andalus.
Enjoy emblematic places such as the throne hall, popularly known as the Rich Hall thanks to its intricate ataurique decoration. Discover the Great Eastern Portico, a spectacular arcade that welcomed embassies visiting the newly appointed Caliph. Walk through the narrow, labyrinthine streets that connect countless spaces, many of them still awaiting discovery. Enjoy the intimacy of private areas such as the House of the Vizier Ya‘far, whose façade boasts superb decoration worthy of a prime minister.
The guided tour concludes at the Interpretation Center, where the most important archaeological remains extracted from the site are exhibited. There we will see how they are organized and cataloged so they can later be properly showcased.
